Second canvas painting based on my dream map

Progress photos for my first painting detailing locations from my dream map.

after taking my sims 4 models I chose some which I felt had the best angles for my plans to paint them, which would allow me to properly convey a sense of unease in relation to them being locations from my nightmares.

below the cut are my sketches.

as with one of my other models I've found more things within the game itself and my mod folder - or applications for the mods - that have allowed me to change the lighting and stack items on top of each other to create new textures.

while I've enjoyed building in the sims 4 before this project I feel like I've gotten a new appreciation for the things that I can build and how to build them by working towards the goal of building something that purely exists inside of my head.

often times I'd end up at this alley way when being chased and hunted by something, for the longest time it was locked and id wake up before getting caught. during one dream I found a key, mind it was old and rusty and definitely not a padlock key, but when I next dreamed of the alley way the lock was gone. I ran up the stairs to find a block of flats with lots of small spaces to hide in.

[while building this location I found some square atmospheric lights in the 'live edit' menu in the sims 4, I used these for the night time photos to create the blue and green lighting. I will definitely be using them more in the future]

[im very much enjoying using the sims 4 to model locations and settings for this project. it has inspired me to look into some tutorials and skill classes online to use blender and to consider purchasing a drawing tablet for going into second year so that I can alternate between my iPad and said tablet. this is something that I plan to cover in another post where I can perhaps link the tutorials that I have been watching on how to use blender.

I also plan to ask a member of staff if there are any studio tutorials on how to use 3d modelling or animation software at the university if there is any. I have been recommended a lecterure to get into contact with that I plan to email soon.]
