* I've been taking what I thought were just a few days off to stitch and rest. I'm amused at how time goes by unnoticed by me when I'm wrapped up in threads and fabrics. When I'm instinctually stitching, it feels as though time ceases to exists. It's a lovely feeling. I'm a #littlebookworm getting lost in the stitched and painted pages of my #littlebooks filled with color, #textures and #instinctualstitching Here is a little book I made in 2019. I love my red painted fabric cuz red is my favorite color and the white #instinctualstitching makes a beautiful contrast to the red. * I remember when my inner critic was so loud inside my head I couldn't make art. I put a lot of pressure on myself to have my work be perfect so I stopped. It was only when I became miserable enough about not making art, I realized I had let my inner critic win. You see my inner critic stopped torturing me when I stopped. Isn't that interesting? Why let the inner critic rent space in your head? You can build your endurance up by dealing with it as though it were an unruly pup. Training and a bit of love for your work is needed. When you love your work as you love yourself, you will defend it tooth and nail from that pesky critic. * Do you have any unfinished projects marinating? I started this piece in 2018 and she's been hanging over my backyard sink ever since. I look at her every time I wash my paintbrushes and wonder when she will speak to me. She's been marinating for a long time now. (You can swipe to see her beginnings.)
