This is what efficient practice looks like (at 200x original speed). This is my #percussiontipoftheday ...Whenever you come across something that feels extremely foreign to you, do NOT try to get everything all at once. You wouldn’t try to speak a language if you didn’t know the syllabic patterns, not assemble a clock if you didn’t understand all the components functions. The same is true with music. Break down whatever is giving you trouble and understand the role of each part, as in: what are the driving parts and what are the supporting ones? Once you are very comfortable with all of the supporting components of the section put together, slowly add in your driving voices. Or, try doing it the other way around! This is even applicable to drum set, seen here. . . P.S.: I tried to remind you all at the end of the time lapse of a very important tool you should be using, but the frames passed to quickly. Please accept my unflattering screenshot as my way of saying “USE A METRONOME!” . . . #percussiontips #percussiontiptuesday #percussiontip #adamsstate #adamstateuniversity #adamsstatepercussion #drums #drummer #drumming #percussion #percussionist #percussionlife #peopleofpercussion #music #musician #musicianlife #practice #lingling40hours #orchestra #classicalmusic https://www.instagram.com/p/B1-k5ZVFi1m/?igshid=1x12y3onjhrv3
