I #believe that there are many #films which are unknown , underrated, forgottan but are very good and worth watching indeed. Despite a title that seems to suggest a light, frothy #romantic #comedy, #PeppermintFrappe is a #dark , brooding character study that is heavily influenced by #LuisBunuel ‘s El (1953, aka This Strange Passion) and bears some striking similarities to #AlfredHitchcock ‘s #Vertigo (1958). The film is set in the #bourgeois environment of #Spain during General #Franco era. A rigidly conservative middle-aged man finds himself hopelessly enamored of his best friend's wife and runs up against the boundaries that his beliefs place on his #behavior.There are also some #humoristic accents and a lot of strange and #grotesque scenes.The #film was well developed and beautifully directed, although rather in the convention of #horror than the #drama.
