The People's Cafe on Capitol St, Jackson, Mississippi was remodeled in 1936. I haven't yet found anything on when it was originally opened or when it closed. I did find out though who ran it & where they were from. 1. George Gouras was one of three operators. He was born in Italy in 1902. He became a naturalized American citizen & was married to Angilaca who was also born in Italy. They had three sons; Theodora, Francis & Nick. George worked 86 hours a week as a chef & made $1,300 per year. 2. John Dorizas another operator, was born in Egypt in 1900. His wife, Irene, was born in Italy. They had one daughter named Calliope. 3. George S. Koutouris the third partner was was from Italy & was born there in 1890. According to the 1940 census, where I gathered most of this info, George wasn't married nor had any children. #peoplescafe #cafe #urbex #urbexphotography #urbandecay #urbanexploration #urbanexplorers #abandoned #abandonedamerica #abandonedplaces #forgotten #forgottenplace #urbexworld #urbexexploration #urbexamerica #urbexplanet #urbexer #urbexexplorer #urbexlovers #abandonedmississippi #riseofthelykins (at Jackson, Mississippi) https://www.instagram.com/p/CTHiLrJARrG/?utm_medium=tumblr
