hey uh weird question I was looking through the pentesting tag and I came across your post "The Pipeline Problem" about the lack of women in the your field. I'm a woman and I'm really fascinated by offensive security, but I've only just found out it exists (lol) and I feel like I'm at a great disadvantage having not spent my teen years learning about the discipline and not really knowing where to start. Do you have advice for someone in my situation? How did you start learning?
Man, I just realised I got asks heh. God knows how long ago this is from, so: so sorry whoever asked this, I wasn't ignoring you! I'm 41 so of an age where you could spend your teen years hacking and it was chalked up to youthful hijinks and teenage high-spirits (even got a visit from the police and a slap on the wrist haha), but those days are long gone now. It's serious business. What I would recommend is
a) get OSCP (offensive security certified practitioner) certified. it's a well respected cert in the industry. Do not under any circumstance get CEH certified, it's looked on as a negative.
b) attend cons and meet people. meet everyone, but in particular, try and meet women already in the industry, they can help you, offer advice, there are often women only meetups etc. infosec can often suffer from testosterone poisoning so i kinda feel like the support might be valuable. Inevitably you will meet elitist jerks, but there are also a lot of people who want to help beginners.
c) start working on your own projects. this might be building a home lab, completing hackthebox ctf challenges etc. start researching areas that interest you.
I'll be honest, just having the certification isn't enough. When I'm interviewing people I look for passion for the topic and drive for self-directed learning, both of which you need to succeed in this field. I also look for "the attacker mindset" and the ability to solve problems on the fly.
Good luck!

Good Mobile Phone Forensics | Mobile device forensics
Abstract More than often in our days, cases go to trial and crimes are solved with the help of evidence taken from the mobile phones and their use. Typical examples of such evidence are the mobile phone’s location (based on the serving base station and/or GPS data), the contacts correlation (based on incoming and outgoing calls), communication content (based on messages and emails send/received/stored), and so on. In this chapter, we will analyze the subject of digital evidence from mobile phones from both the theoretical and the technical side.
