Deadpool is one of the highest grossing movies of all time, and when the sequel was set to be released, Ryan Reynolds and his working team were not at all shy about it. They had many ways to promote their upcoming film, like the teaser that was actually promoting the 2017 hit movie Logan, where Deadpool takes a very long time to change in order to try, and fail at saving a civilian. There is also the case of him with his interaction with football star David Beckham, and lets not forget his work based around Bob Ross and his work in the Wet on Wet trailer.
I believe that these forms of advertisements simply made the audience even more curious about what was set up for his upcoming movie. Purely because none of these trailers actually had anything to do with what the movie was about, they were literally teasers, which were created to make sure that Deadpool wouldn’t lose any of its audience.
The Christmas teaser released at the end of 2017 was probably the one that got most of the Deadpool fans riled up the most. This was due to the simplicity of the trailer, featuring Reynolds talking about, in the Deadpool costume, the twelve days of Christmas, with absolutely no indication as to what the twelfth day would bring. This was another way to keep the audience gripped, as they were aware that the last day would reveal the new trailer for the upcoming film.
When it came down to the actual trailer, Deadpool went all the way and shocked its viewers, due to the fact that I don’t think that any of them expected so much brutality and action to be thrown into the trailer as it seemed to give away all of the fight scenes that would feature in the movie. However, Ryan was as great as ever and really pulled off the movie in the end.
Overall, I believe that Deadpool has one of the most creative marketing ploys, and they’re extremely clever when it comes down to promoting their work. They know how to keep their audience aware, and they don’t fail when it comes to presenting overall. It’s also a really great movie.
