After an incredible turn of events, young Liverpool goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux has returned to Swindon Town, just days after being sent back to his parent club for paying a club fine of £50 in one penny pieces.

The 21-year-old London born Chilean goalkeeper had originally joined Swindon at the start of the summer, in a move which would have seen him spend the whole season with the club. However, after turning up late to training last week, Vigouroux was fined £50 by the club. With a measly sum of £50 not seeming like a lot of money to the modern day professional footballer, Vigouroux was clearly incensed by the fine and set about paying for it with 5,000 1p coins.

Unfortunately for the goalkeeper, the club didn’t see the funny side of the joke and immediately sent him back to Anfield. After a good start at the club in which he made 9 appearances for the first team and kept one clean sheet, it was apparent that the goalkeeper would become an integral part of the squad this season prior to his misdemeanor and subsequently being sent back to Liverpool.

However, in a twist of events, Swindon have today confirmed that the club have indeed taken back the goalkeeper after he issued a sincere apology.

“Lawrence is going to come back. He is very humble and very apologetic. He knows the way he behaved was wrong and he has been in the changing room after the game and apologised to the players,” Swindon Town boss Mark Cooper told reporters today.

Cooper went on to state: “It did happen and I thought it was brilliant banter, but in the context it was the wrong way to go about it. We are giving him a second chance and I’m sure he will be grateful.”
