Now that I've read more than a trade or an anthology story separated by several years, yeah, the weird double-down DC is doing about Apollo not wanting to kill is very, very strange. It feels in some sense like they're trying to map them closer to Clark and Bruce, which is really odd because if you snap up a pair of Batman and Superman expys and merge them into your universe wouldn't you want to differentiate them from each other? A little bit? But in the Batman/Superman Authority special it was genuinely hard to tell which little guy in a dark coat was who.
And like...there are so many conflicts in the Wildstorm era that I want to see play out. I want that conflict that got aborted when Seth showed up, the one about ego and popularity and who speaks up when. I want to know how they balance parenting Jenny after Midnighter did it by himself under such dire circumstances for so many years. I want to know how the rest of the team feels about the two of them snapping Jenny into their little nuclear family and always having one foot out the door in the pursuit of a normal life. And DC just picked...the least interesting and most out-of-character concept they could.
