I do enjoy Jules Verne

I read 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea earlier this year. Reading The Mysterious Island now.

I appreciate his descriptions. Its enough that you can visualize the scene, but not so much as to annoy. (Maybe I am the only one who gets annoyed by excessive detail?) I am enthralled by the little unexplained events. I read the last couple lines of the book by accident when I was checking how many pages it was, so I think I have an idea where it is going, but I love it.

Its really cool to see Verne layout the development of civilization, too as the castaways make their own bricks and tools and even explosives.

I also enjoy how Pencroft only cares about if any given animal is good to eat. :)
