Mrs. Darcy in Pembereley

‘What are men to rocks and mountains?’

Some of my favorite scenes both in the movie and the book, are the Darcy-Elizabeth exchanges when they go on walks. They both seem to be nature lovers and some of their key interactions happen when they are in the open.

This one happens on one such blissful walks at Pembereley,as master and mistress.

Lizzy: How beautiful! I am going to be talking about these grounds every day now!

Darcy(with a smile): Had I known that you’d feel so strongly for Pembereley, I would have found a way to bring you here much earlier.

Lizzy(laughs): I remember how impertinent I was in the way I rejected your proposal last year. Oh, how you must have detested me!

Darcy: Detest you? Impossible! Upset over your refusal,yes. But my admiration only grew stronger than what I already felt.

Lizzie: Stronger? How?

Darcy: Your eyes shone through your genuine spirit for people you cared about and you rightly put me in place. Thoughts of my behavior towards you tortured me more than your reproof. It was unpardonable!

Lizzie: As much as I am happy to hear you say this,I am also ashamed of my poor judgement and insolence back then. I blindly accused you of things I didn’t even know about. I was decidedly against you from the beginning and...

Darcy: we are clearly not people of first impressions, Mrs. Darcy. But aren’t we happy now?

Lizzie(laughs and nods): In such cases as these, a good memory is unpardonable!

Darcy: It is not! In such cases it is most important to make many new good memories
