Pelorosaurus was a brachiosaurid, and one of the first described sauropods in paleontological history. It was found in the Tunbridge Wells Sand Formation of the Hastings Beds, UK; the Sandown Bay on the Isle of Wright, and also in Portugal. it lived about 132 million years ago, in the Hauterivian age of the Early Cretaceous. Because of its early discovery, it became something of a wastebasket taxon, and its history in terms of what fossils have been attributed to the genus is confusion to say the least (Darren Naish agrees with me on this, so if that tells you anything...) So I’m not even going to try to decipher it! No paleontology history for you! It has one valid species remaining after this chaos, and the material that has remained valid has placed it as a Brachiosaurid, though there is some uncertainty left, and it has been on occasion placed in the less specific group, Titanosauriformes, only.
