he has a pattern of befriending and paying attention to humans when they enter his realm, then seemingly dropping them after they've become fae. this isn't due to losing interest but rather he starts treating them like the rest of his subjects-- Dream tries to give all of his subjects a fraction of his time and be friends with everyone. like literally everyone

unfortunately this means he's spread very thin, and has very little time spent with any one individual thus resulting in few genuine connections. he does find humans very interesting and gives them more time than his fae subjects, but that's a result of his curiousity. so when they turn fae and he treats them like everyone else and they get less of his time, it seems like he's lost interest in them. he's basically doing a platonic speed date at all times, and thus doesn't spend enough time with people to maintain a relationship properly
