Aftergraph Stills 2015

- This gallery was located on Hoxton street and I would suggest that Gerrard’s work quite closely reflects the surrounding area. Her detailed ink drawings of huge crowds reminded me of London during rush hour and the street in which Peer is located can often get very busy. 

- Her use of ink reflected the theme quite closely I found as the loose quality of the ink allowed the people in the crowds to slightly merge together. This reminded me of how we feel in big crowds- everything is faced paced, busy, and blurry.

- She displayed 7 small intricate paintings in one room and 3 large scale paintings in the other. Although the detail in the smaller works was impressive, it was the large paintings I found to be the most impressive. In this particular space I found myself encouraged to study the small works up close and focus on small details but stand back from the larger paintings and view them as if I was on the top floor of a building looking down onto the busyness.
