Pedro Penduko x Alexandra Trese render
Just watching one of my all time favorite Pinoy movie and realized this particular scene with Ramon Zamora as Maguayen kinda reminds me of Gandalf when he blocked the Balrog in Moria. Not sure if the movie is inspired by Tolkien's work but it sure nice to see the similarities.

Pedro Penduko: The Return of the Comeback notes
-LJ Moreno is not a good choice for the role of Bulan.( her looks may play the part but the way she talks is a little too sweet) ..also her 'grrr' mannerisms are extremely annoying. If they let her do that just to show that she is a strong warrior princess~type then, they did it wrong.
-The part where the people from Talon Anon had to evacuate because Minokawa was coming--shouldn't there be a little element of chaos in that scene? a crazy maniac is coming to destroy your village and kill you all, what's up with moving so slow? These villagers sure are calm when they know disaster's about to strike.Grace under pressure?
-I assume that these people have been living in that village ever since they could remember, but for people who have walked (and probably built) these bamboo walkways, they seem to be having a hard time waking through them..notice the nervousness while walking in these walkways..being a villager of Talon Anon and knowing that everything in that environment is a threat, holding on to the sides of the walkway while carefully taking each step is a little off, don't you think?
-The fearsome villains, Minokawa and his gang--topples over by a swing of Pedro Penduko's bat. Men with big muscles, heavy armor and a voice fit for a demonic villain and their one weakness is a baseball bat. Is it the costume overkill? The heavy armor weighing them down? Or is it that demonic raspy voice they had to master for the role? For a true villain, i always say, less is more.
-I seriously think they should audition better extras next time.
-The 'Muro Ami' part was hilarious..--free movie promotion? I guess so., it made me want to watch Muro Ami.
-Let us take some time to appreciate Micheal V. as Bulagis he is and will always be an excellent actor.
-The script is hillarious.I get the humor.--
"Meg Ryan!--Maguayen''
"limang piso lang yan sa divisoria"
"Parating na si Minokawa. Si Minokawa?! Si Minokawa?--sino yun?"
-Kudos to the set and costume design.
-Ever get a feeling that they do Tai Chi all the time?
-Backflips and summersaults are the key to crappy stunts. Congratulations to the Minokawa gang for mastering it. And then there are the perfectly timed back flips-to explosions. A classic.
-Leave it to the Pinoys to always make sure there's a mini music video in the middle of the movie..a music video that may or may not have something to do with the story line
-Not that I have nothing against the people of Kanlinungan but did they seriously think they could defeat Minokawa's army with stick and bamboos? The battle scene towards the end seriously needed a fix. Of course, after the battle 'everyone' was dead, and only the five warriors of Kanlinungan was alive to fight Minokawa's gang. But at the end of the movie, lo and behold! the people of Kanlinungan are alive again and are all gathered around Pedro Penduko ready to bid him goodbye.
-The 'Tungkok Langit' looked like some kid they just picked up from the streets, dressed him up real nice, gave him one or two lines to memorize and then threw him into the movie. They should thank him for delivering his lines in monotone, at least they were all correct.
-The ending is.....well, Let's just say Joyce Jimenez is a real hottie.
-And as always, Janno Gibs is an amazing actor, he kind of reminded me of Ace Ventura.
90s to early 2000 Pinoy movies, what happened to it :(
Oh man! I was thinking about that Filipino Movie "Pedro Penduko" it's one of my favorite Pinoy movie of all Pinoy movies, that includes Batang X of course :), Janno Gibbs is brilliant, I still remember his quote "Ikaw, ako, tayong lahat, Magkaaaa kapatiiiidd", its brilliant ^-^, they never make those kinda stuff anymore, its such a shame really :(. well, they do make similar genre but not as good as Pedro Penduko.. and Enchanted kingdom and Batang X and etc ... :)
I really want to buy those kinda movies, Its really hard to find original copy :(
