Q1. What motivated you to debut (as an actor) ?

Retired from club activities (soccer) of junior high school, I wanted to challenge the entertainment world that I admired since I was a kid. Seeing the opportunity in the internet and applying for my current agency was what inspired me.

O2. Food that you like and don’t like?

For the ones I like, there’s meat and tofu. For the ones I don’t like, there’s green bell peppers, salmon roe, sea urchin, and cabbage centers.

Q3. Your type of girl?

A gentle and family-oriented person. Between someone who acts like a younger sister and one that acts like an older sister, I’d prefer the one who acts older!! Just like Tokyo Ghoul’s Touka-chan. I like someone who’s tsundere but shows a gentle side from time to time. LOL

Q4. A word you like (or motto)

"Other than me, everything can be one's teacher", these are the words of famous writer Yoshikawa Eiji in his work, Miyamoto Musashi. It means that there's something you can learn from the people and nature around you.

Q5. With this, I will not lose to anyone!

My speed in reading manga!! I would read a whole volume in 10 minutes. I have read 30 volumes in one day.

Q6. What is you catchphrase and why?

“Always a challenger”, (because I am) never satisfied with myself, always trying to hone my skills, and looking forward to challenge myself.

Q7. What do you do in order to keep your body in check?

In order to squeeze in Onoda Sakamichi’s frame, I go to the gym, I run and pedal on the stationary bike!! At home I’d soak myself in the tub. For my metabolism to improve, I really need to sweat it and tire myself out.

Q8. What are you into recently?

Splatoon!! I’m quite addicted lol. I’m really looking forward to Splatoon 2!!

Q9. A recent “first” that you did?

I was able to shoot a commercial for PARCO’s Grand Bazaar 2017. I was surprised because I was the only one for the shoot but there were a lot of people included in the staff!!

Q10. A person you would really like to meet right now (someone you look up to?)

Ito Hideaki!! I watched everything in the Umizaru series and his acting really impressed me. I have so much respect.

Q11. Something you’re really passionate about at the moment?

Acting on stage. Right now, rehearsals for “Pedal stage” have started and it’s motivating me. Going to the studio everyday to practice is really fun.

Q12. Something you’re troubled with?

Proper etiquette when talking to seniors. When you enter this industry, there is a huge opportunity to get involved and be influenced by people above you, so I try as much as I can to learn the manners and words that I can use.

Q13. Something you cried about recently?

When Ace (of ONE PIECE) died in the manga. I cried when he said “Thank you for loving me till the end” lol

Q14. Current dream (something you want to challenge yourself with)

I want to challenge myself in different works of movies, dramas and stage plays. I want to become an actor who can play lead roles in the future!! And also, I want to be a cool person to the core. 

Q15. The secret to having your dreams come true

I think it's that no matter how much effort you give, you should never lose to yourself, and that you should live in humility!!

(Daigo Kotaro / Model Press = 24th January) “Character Close-up”, a series that introduces editors’ pick-worthy and overlooked personalities. This time we are featuring young actor Daigo Kotaro who stars in the latest episode of Yowamushi Pedal Stage (New IH~Start Line~).

Landing his first lead role in a popular series

The original work, created by Watanabe Wataru and serialized by Weekly Shounen Champion, is a popular bike racing manga which has sold over 10.6 million copies. With the help of energetic director Nishida Shatner’s mind for productions, the competency of the cast and enthusiastic performances has been quite the talk, making it popular since it started back in 2012.

The latest production from the series will be in the spring of 2017. This time, with the purpose of extending cast potentials, elected carefully and selectively, an audition was opened to the general public, regardless of being a professional or an amateur.

In the meantime, having took an exceptional selection for his first lead role in a play, Daigo will be playing as Onoda Sakamichi. Born in September 1, 2000, he is a fresh-faced 16 year-old from Tokyo.

His next break is expected, as he has been decided to make an appearance in the live action movie of Ani ni Aisaresugite Komattemasu, a short comic serialized by Shogakukan, starring actress Tsuchiya Tao, GENERATIONS from EXILE TRIBE’s Katayose Ryota, and actor Chiba Yudai.

Furthermore, the play will be held on the 25th and 26th of February in Osaka ORIX Theater, and from 4th to the 12th of March in Tokyo Dome City Hall.

Long time no post! We’re so sorry for the lack of updates >< Life has been busy for both admins but here’s something new! I really do hope we get to see more interesting rookies this year.

スカシ - ‘hotshot’ is the usual translation for what Naruko calls Imaizumi, which is like ‘putting on an air’ すかす. Ota Motohiro, who played Imaizumi, has also been replaced so...

what do you mean i’m crying no it’s raining on my face leave me alone

I knew he was gonna be replaced...but I’m still mourning...I’m really attached to how Torichan portrayed Naruko, who’s my favorite chara in YowaPeda. It’s because of his Naruko that I’m a huge fan of Torichan.

I trust Momose-san to portray Naruko well, having seen him in Tumbling before...I just need time to accept............

We’re gonna miss you, Torichan. In my heart, you’re the real Naruko Shoukichi ;w;
