So, like many people doing yoga when I get going.... I heat up!  My Sunday yoga teacher is working us through strong Vinyasa flow sequences and starts us of with a few sun salutations to warm up our bodies - this is great in some ways but the disadvantage is that the studio is above the gym swimming pool and we heat up pretty quickly.  As we progress through the sequence I start to feel my ‘down dog’ starting to go from feeling fairly well rooted to sliding a little.  This makes me tense and I lose my alignment and my relaxed shoulders disappear.  It seems physically it doesn’t feel too much of a problem, but mentally, I lose focus, my mind starts to engage with the issue and I have lost something from my practice.  In seeking out a bit of a solution, I purchased the Nike Studio Wrap to see if it would provide a way to combat the slipping.  I was surprised that they feel very secure and I feel confident when I’m on the mat in the hot studio - I don’t feel I would use them for all my practice but they certainly combat the slip sliding... downside, you are aware of them when rooting to the ground in certain postures and feel a little less connected to the earth - but if they enable a practice that keeps the mind from becoming busy and body tense about the possibility of face planting in the middle of a session - then that’s just peachy!
