Three years ago, we visited New Zealand for 3 weeks and we spent time in lovely Christchurch. At that time, there were visible signs that they were still recovering from the 2011 Christchurch earthquake. While the quote above was written to describe a statue dedicated to those killed at sea during the U.S. Civil War (1861-1865), they could be applied to the current situation in New Zealand. Nosarara Nosabatutu, Together we are One, a Peace slogan in #Palu since 2007. . . Standing in solidarity with my brother @dennyfrust24 (originally from Surabaya) in light of the Church and police station bombings yesterday. We had the blessing to visit the Peace Gong monument here in Palu. The large golden gong is located at a place called Taman Nusantara Peace Education, and depicts 5 recognized religions in Indonesia and outlines the provinces and districts of this island nation made up of 1200 islands. This gong is 1 of 5 in Indonesia and placed in high conflict areas. The Indonesia I have always loved and known has been one where people of so many ethnicities, religions and dialects coming together under the flag of 1 nation. Let us never let politics incite the root of the love we have for one another.
