Adam in Warrington #4 (PDRL Festival, 4-8-19)
It’s time for another post-Leg-related writeup!
On Sunday, I attended the PDRL Festival at Warrington’s Victoria Park, a familiar setting as it was where I first saw Adam, along with Alex doing their rugby thing. I’ll say something, the weather this time around was definitely better!
It was also a bit of an extra special day too, as me and my amazing friend @puplockandcoke finally met after 3 years and it only took us 7 meets with Adam for it to happen! We definitely had fun watching our favourite Aussie and the opposition playing that afternoon. Definitely worth the sunburn we left with! (P.S. you’re mental for driving 500 miles, but I’m very thankful!!!) Good news, though! Warrington won twice with the help of stand-in team captain, Adam (his number is normally 7, but was 2 on Sunday), yay!! Me and Lux had a quick little catchup with him afterwards and I think he was surprised to see that the two of us had finally met! Think I managed a hello and said it was lovely to see him again as the sun had definitely gotten to me by this point (I didn’t even have my trademark hair colour!), and I’ll say it now... the beard doesn’t... look so bad in person, but I think he said he’s getting a little fed up of it now (HA!).
Before we said our goodbyes to Adam, Lux showed him her badass Warrington themed nails which he couldn’t resist taking a picture of for his Instagram. There was definitely fangirling from both of us yesterday when he posted the picture!
So, we really enjoyed ourselves and had a fun weekend together. We’ve even joked about going to the follow-up matches in Blackpool next month (September 7th, details TBA), but I don’t think either of us can make it, sadly. Let’s hope it not too long before the two of us do something Leg related again!! --- NOTE TO SELF: scan the damn leaflet later!!!!

Old Hillsy interview from Total Rugby League (Rugby League World, issue 471), featured in an article about famous rugby league fans.
You can just hear him saying “bloody love rugby league, me!” 😅
Comedian and presenter of ‘The Last Leg’ Adam Hills has never hidden the fact he’s a rugby league fan. He helped set up the Physical Disability game that is now played across numerous clubs, and later went on to play for Australia in the PDRL World Cup. So he was perhaps the obvious choice of presenter when Channel Four got the rights to show Super League games in 2022. Although he wasn’t too sure about that at first, as he explained to us in April of that year after a successful first couple of games on air.
