PCOS: Weight Loss and Various Symptoms
two things i am struggling with. it seems as though both have fluctuated since my diagnoses, ranging from positive to very negative. more recently, my symptoms have worsened and my weight gain seems to be appearing out of nowhere. my OBGYN prescribed metformin for me (the medication i initially started on when was diagnosed), although i do hate taking medication. i stopped taking metformin when i was about sixteen and switched to birth control pills. they helped a lot with my acne and regulating my period. however, i plan to use the metformin as a crutch until i can finally commit to a permanent healthy PCOS lifestyle.Â
my struggles mostly lie within my eating habits. it's hard to conform to a lifestyle of low carbs and constricted caloric intake. although i do LOVE healthy foods, i tend to binge when my cravings go haywire. i feel like that sets off a series of bad decisions like carbo loading and skipping the gym. this may not be an adequate excuse, but being surrounded by people with normally functioning endocrine systems doesn't help much either. losing weight and getting healthy is so much easier for the people i'm around daily, so i lack support and understanding of my struggle.
i just hope by immersing myself in the online world of PCOS will help motivate me and aid me in this struggle. seven years is a long time and i'm quite fed up with this battle. but, one day at a time right? Â
