for @mythologicalnet event: death deities || Mictēcacihuātl in aztec mythology, mictecacihuatl’s role is to watch over the bones of the dead and preside over the ancient festivals of the dead. she is known as the lady of the dead because it is believed that she was sacrificed as an infant. mictecacihuatl was represented with a defleshed body and with jaw agape to swallow the stars during the day.

When Dido and her people fled to North Africa, they were helped by the nearby Phoenician king Hiarbas. He was willing to trade with them and offered to rent a piece of suitable land. The condition was that they could only have the area of land covered by an ox-hide. Dido, resourceful and clever, had the hide cut into very fine strips and with these encircled an entire hill which came to be known as Byrsa Hill after the Greek word for ox-hide.
