This mostly happens when you built a PC thinking you would add more RAM later on and you find out the prices of the RAM have gone down (or up) and you buy the higher frequency stick and ghen you have 2 sticks, both of different frequencies. It does not harm, what happens is safe and sound which is mentioned in the post. When I was 12, I upgraded my PC, and I added more RAM later on and I found out the prices were dropped and I bought the higher frequency RAM and witness the effect.
