IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR WINDOWS USERS NOTE:
Microsoft’s denial: They’re saying there’s “no conclusive evidence” and even suggesting some reports are fake.
HOWEVER, I trust community/user reports, since they’re consistent across different brands and setups.
Advice to others: Backup, check if KB5063878 & KB5062660 is installed, and consider pausing/uninstalling until more clarity is available.
"I updated and don't have/didn't get that update." My response: Some people say they’re on Windows 11 and didn’t get KB5063878 or KB5062660. That doesn’t disprove the report, not every Windows 11 install is on the same update channel.
This update is specific to 24H2 builds.
Microsoft rolls updates out in waves, so some won’t see it yet.
Others may have update deferrals on without realizing it.
Just because one person’s system hasn’t been hit doesn’t mean others aren’t losing data. That’s like saying “my car didn’t stall, so the recall must be fake.”

UPDATE: The only two updates that are corrupting people's SSD's & HDD's are: KB5063878 & KB5062660. These are the only two I recommend uninstalling. ------------------------------------------------------------ Steps to uninstall it:
Press Win + I to open Settings.
Go to Update & Security → Windows Update.
Click Update history.
Scroll down and click Uninstall updates.
In the window that opens, look for the most recent update (it will usually say Cumulative Update for Windows with a KB number, like KB5063878).
Select it → click Uninstall.
Restart your PC when prompted.
EDIT: In case anyone has issues with the steps above here is another method:
Press Win + R & in the pop up type: "appwiz.cpl" + hit enter
On the left of the new pop up, click View installed updates.
Now you’ll see a list with KB numbers (e.g., KB5063878).
Find the most recent one (look at the “Installed On” date), right-click → Uninstall.
