While attempting to test a DOS CD-ROM title, this 1992 BSR 486 PC tower gave up the ghost.
When attempting to power on the system, the front tower lights came on, blinked off and on a couple of times, then abruptly shut down. Subsequent attempts yielded the same result.
This system that I have preserved for over 20 years would run no more. It appears the motherboard finally failed.
I salvaged the following from the system:
246MB (that's MEGAbyte) hard drive
1.2MB 5¼" floppy drive
1.44MB 3½" floppy drive
8 4MB 30-PIN memory SIMMs
Sound Blaster 16 ISA sound card
Slowly, one by one, my vintage computers are beginning to die off... 😞
I'm fortunate to be able to use virtual computing to test the majority of the legacy software I find. It saves having to power up and use the vintage computers in my collection.
But, alas, one of the chosen ones has moved on.
May we please have a moment of silence… 😔
