when i first started writing poster, baby i was basically a complete idiot, i didn't understand the work that came with writing a fic, sure I knew it's work to sit down and write the chapter but i didn't really understand plot development, and actually having a plot at the time. The only thing I really understood was character development and development between characters relationships. The only thing I knew in my brain when i started Poster, Baby was how they were going to meet and that Nim's family problems would be a big part of the story. And even from looking at my tumblr tag for poster, baby you can so clearly see my ideas changing so so much and how I want it be just doesn't add up with how the fic has gone. I've learnt my lesson in fic planning that's for sure. It might not be obvious to a reader because they probably don't pick up the things but there are so so many plot holes it's ridiculous. There's so many things that don't add up and don't mesh and they aren't things that can be fixed through writing more chapters and fixing them. I'm just very excited to write Nim and Harry how i've always wanted to write them.

I can't speak from experience here because i don't consider myself to be 'noticed' in terms of being known on 1dff, and i don't have a large base of readers, but i do have dedicated ones and have a few who read all of my works. Poster, baby was my first fanfic so i don't know what i did to get readers for it that other authors don't do. Being a member on the boards probably really helps aswell as having a fic tumblr. SInce I've made a tumblr I feel like i know a lot more authors personally and when you know authors personally you're probably going to read their writing. So basically make friends! Friends encourage each other and you can bounce ideas off of them and it just makes writing a whole lot more enjoyable and they read your writing and review it and recommend it! I think just being a nice person helps as well. Just by author notes you can tell an authors personality and for me I get a little bit put off of someones writing when they come across as a nasty person. Being a nice person that people want to review for and will appreciate feedback is so so important. Talk about your work! Meaning on the boards and on tumblr (not in real life lbr), people are genuinely quite curious so when they see someone talking about the fic they're writing, they're probably going to be like 'i need to read this' and they will. I know I do anyway. Post in the WYRT and do review for reviews and post in the updates thread. If you've got quality writing and original plots and everything that makes up a good story then you will get noticed, every author has to start some where! Update often (once a month at the least), I think this helps a lot, and I'm not saying that if you don't update that often then you won't have readers bc lbr we all have school and work and personal lives that come first, but i probably won't bother starting to read a fic that hasn't updated since 2013. That's all I've got basically, so to summarise:
