They open the door before you even knock. 

Standing there is a younger boy who seems as if he’s in his early twenties. He has orange goggles on his head and a scar on his cheek, exposing some of his yellow teeth. “Hey there, you’re here for th-the interview, right?” In the middle of his sentence, his head jerks to the side. You assume he has some version of tourettes, not that you mind. He seems nice. 

“Yeah! Nice to meet you!” You shake hands and exchange names, and he opens the door a bit further to let you in. On the couch you notice two other guys sitting there. You think their names are Tim and Brian, but you can’t tell who’s who. “Hello! It’s.. uh- really nice to meet all of you guys! Where should I sit?” 

Tim (or maybe Brian) points to the ottoman in front of the couch. As you’re sitting, you introduce yourself. Brian (probably Tim… maybe) chuckles. “I’m Brian, and this is my buddy Tim. The punk that let you in was Toby.” You can’t help but laugh at his comment, and he flashes a gap-toothed smile right back. He seems happy with your reaction. You are definitely getting this roommate position. Tim and Toby don’t seem as convinced as Brian does though. You might have to pull out the big guns.

Toby twitches as he asks you a question. “So, why are you m-moving here in the first place?”

Sighing, you answer the question. “I’ve recently gone through a… rough breakup. I was living with them, so now I need to find a new place.” 

Brian cuts in. “Shit. I’m so sorry ‘bout that, dollface. If you don’t mind me askin’, what happened?”

Tim grumbles. “Brian, don’t. That’s rude.” 

You can’t help but shrug it off. “No, it’s fine. I… I think I’m over it now.” You’re not. They can tell. “It ended because they weren’t exactly… faithful.”

Toby cuts in. “S-so he cheated?” He looks unimpressed. You're not sure if that's towards you or towards your ex.

You nod. “It was a mutual decision to end things.” 

Tim scoffs. “Yeah, ‘cause I’m sure you wanted to stay with the bastard after that.” Brian signals for him to stop. 

You sigh. “Any other questions?”

The rest of the interview goes fairly well. The three decide to take a detour to the bathroom to make a decision. 

“I just… I don’t know ‘bout this, Brian. Seems a bit too risky, ain’t you agree?”

“Tim, this is perfect. It’s a blessing. She can help out around the house, and we won’t be-” He makes a hand motion, waving towards nothing. “-swarmin’ in unpaid water bills anymore. Besides, we both know you gotta meet more people.” 

“I don’t know Brian… I think Tim is right. She-” Toby’s head twitches. “She could find out about our… 'job.'” 

All three glance at the door. Brian puts his hand on Tim’s shoulder. “Tim, you’re the one that’s on the fence. You gotta make the decision.” 

Tim sighs. He doesn’t want to push you away, though. You seem… desperate. He doesn’t think you’ll be a half bad roommate either. You’re kinda cute, too. Not that he’d admit that.

“Fine. Just- if this becomes a problem, I ain’t dealing with it, you hear?” He glares at Toby and Brian. 

“Yay!”

Brian opens the bathroom door to find you standing outside. “This is the best decision you’ll ever make, trust me.” 

This is going to be interesting.
