i see a lot of modern AUs where Nie MingJue is a gym owner or a trainer as a job, but honestly based on his character and views, I think he'd make a really good Legal commentator/interviewer or a television journalist on courtroom events or unsolved or solved crimes 😅
Yes, I feel you on this! Although I absolutely love to see/read about Nie MingJue training at the gym in modern AUs, sometimes it feels like him working there is an over-simplication/stereotype of his character lol Like there's that one part in the novel where Jin GuangYao literally can't figure out what makes Nie MingJue tick (and therefore can't figure out how to manipulate him) and yet the reason why is so incredibly apparent: Jin GuangYao keeps trying to use things while Nie MingJue's always been motivated by empathy. Show him a frightened woman and child or a pitiful water boys eating alone and he’s making sure things are OK!
He’s also not a fool! “Cool motive, still murder!”
So omg, YOUR MIND! IS PERFECT! Your choices of careers for him are so unique and I love them! Nie MingJue working in law could actually also be a delicious meal (prosecutor Nie MingJue!?), but him as a legal commentator/interviewer or TV journalist for the courtroom?? I'm laughing because that man would give NO quarter and he'd just tell it like it is and there is no beating around the bush with this one. And we know he does that in canon so just--give him a job doing that! It suits him so well and I wish I knew more of the ins and outs of those careers to add something but for now I'm just--this is quality content and I need it in my life!
