a genuine curiosity that shines in eyes.   not so much a challenge but a wish to gather knowledge.   once again to open trades and truly opening the domain since calamity’s fall ;  his duties had kept him rather busy for a time but now while the opportunity had presented itself thought had struck !   and so here he was  (  with a couple other zora ),  finding his way from domain , down rivers and across open field for a short journey.   

such they find themselves in current company , in a place so unlike his own and in a way refreshing.  there was a wish to stay longer but he didn’t want to be gone from the domain for too long.    “   oh  -- ”      while diet mainly consisted of fish ,  a given living in the domain ,  he was curious to try many other things --  and how interesting this looked !   carefully does he take what’s offered with a smile.     “   thank you very much !    i can already tell it will be wonderful.  i hope you do not mind that i save it for the journey back ?   when i return i will be sure to tell you how i enjoyed it.  ”

        It is strange, he thinks, for her to not be a stuttering, fumbling mess with him for once. Instead, she shows concern; genuine concern, writ across her soft face and in her softer eyes. Link flinches away instinctively when she reaches too close to the large cut across his ribcage. His tunic will have to be washed and repaired, he thinks distantly, and the wound isn’t the worst he has ever sustained, but blood mixes with dirt and rainwater and it stings and he’s so very tired.

       I can do it, he wants to say, but the words won’t come out. The last thing he wants is for her to get her gentle hands dirty with blood—his blood, and to feel obligated to fix what was brought on by his own recklessness.

       He swallows, then concedes to her better judgment.

               it was none other than creamy heart soup. while not an extravagant dish ( mainly of peasant origin ) it was by far his favorite. just smelling the sweet aromas, his memory is flooded with old images of the past ( a mother and child enjoying a homemade bowl together, laughter and room lit by a single candle ) a dull ache occurring in his heart which was bittersweet. though, now there’s a joyful glimmer in his eyes, different from his usual stoic demeanor. and then he smiles wide. mouth parting to share words of gratitude: 

              “ t-this is my favorite. thank you — would you care to eat together, paya? ”

- ̗̀  —-  ➸     Linkle had heard of the Sheikah, but never anything solid to go on. She’d never thought she would meet someone from the line in passing, let alone be given the opportunity to have a conversation! Normally she would rush forward, eager as always, but this girl seemed like she could startle and run for cover at a moment’s notice. Coming at her with questions about history and weapon wielding techniques right away might be a bit much.

Instead she spoke calmly, hands just slightly raised at her sides in a placating manner as if she were trying to soothe a ruffled cuccoo, and chose an easier topic.

“A f r a i d?” It’s head cocks to the side, unnaturally so. The Skull Kid has perched itself upon her grandmother’s roof– seemingly unnoticed to all save for her. “HEEHEE! Scaredy cat! What’s there to even be afraid of around here, huh? I bet you’re even afraid of your own shadow!”

The minimalism of Sheikah aesthetics was a stark contrast to the vibrancy associated with the Gerudo. In the quiet confines of Kakariko Village there lived a different brand of beauty than what she had grown accustomed to in the desert; nonetheless Riju held a deep appreciation for their culture. If her broad smile and the light in her eyes were any suggestion, she was eager for them to refashion one another.

Manicured fingers drummed idly against one of many brass pots that sat between them, each carrying a vivid selection of paints and powders. She had been studying Paya’s features for some time, contemplating which hues would be most becoming of her.

❝I know exactly what I’ll do for you... ❞ she murmured upon making her choice, setting aside the two of the varnished pots.  ❝Have you decided yet?❞
