The snow is melting

And thus my sadness melts, too.

I may have this tiny little voice

but I for sure have lots to talk

about how this wretched society makes me unable to walk

freely

without judgment

without paranoia

without a man beside me

because I am a girl

I can't go out by myself, my mother said

because apparently the outside world is too unsafe but tell me how my younger brother can get up from bed

and can go freely without his hands being taped

together

He's free.

And I am not 

because I am a girl

If the outside world is unsafe to be in then why can she risk letting my brother go?

Oh, let me guess, he's a guy

he's not "sis", he's "bro"

He can't be attacked, now, can't he?

Tell me why

guys can roam freely without malice

while someone like me is always at risk?

I get it. I should always feel like this

Because I am a girl.

What they don't know is that

being a girl can still be empowering.

Amidst the misogyny present in this world,

I am still going to hear the feminist bells ring.

I demand equality between the sexes,

And the eradication of all the sexists.

Soon I'll finally be able to say loudly

that I am finally walking around the earth proudly
