#2526 - Patiriella regularis - New Zealand Common Cushion Star
AKA Asterina (Asteriscus) regularis, Asterina (Patiriella) regularis, Asterina cabalistica and Asterina regularis.
One of New Zealand's most common rocky shore starfish, abundant in shallow water around both mainland islands, in a large variety of colours including blue, green, brown, orange and red, and have 4–6 arms.
They feed on algae, barnacles and invertebrates - most of the organism in the rockpool around it are potentially lunch.
Accidentally introduced into south east Tasmania (quite possibly in the same oyster shipment as the turret shells) where they are now well established and potentially invasive.
