On 03.08.2025, 6 friends explored Gambhirgad near Dahanu, Palghar on a Sunday.

There were no rains and it was humid and hot while ascending. We had almost renamed this trek as the first dry monsoon trek of the season! We literally posed seriousness with Gambhirgad in front of us. Almost 4 litres of water were consumed in the strenuous trek. It rained intermittently and we were thankful for it. The terrain was full of wild overgrowth and rocks. It was a continuous ascent with the only respite in form of descent while returning. A guide is a must in this wilderness.

I felt it was a moderate grade trek due to humidity & lack of rains while climbing up. The continuous steep uphill climb makes the trek tiring. The length & the terrain needs endurance. 8.04 km of the trek was a loop (ascending & descending). I think we must have crossed one or two streams in the entire route. There is only one water tank which provides potable water and we refilled and drank much to quench our thirst.

TIME LINE:

04:45 wake up alarm. 06:30 meet-up. 07:35-07:50 breakfast halt at Shree Datta Snacks. 09:00 reach the base village. 09:15 trek starts with a guide. 13:00-14:00 lunch break at the top. 15:00 descent starts. 17:00 base village, Patilpada near Vyahali. 17:15 return journey starts. 19:00-19:20 refreshments at Shree Datta Snacks. 21:00 home sweet home.
