and i actually go back and forth between depicting peter as a/associated with lizard (dry) and as a/associated with salamander (wet). latest pics i've drawn him with spots based on eastern red-backed and northern dusky salamanders. we don't got them where i'm from i'm very jealous. in my mind in creature feature he's a mix of both. well human + mix of both. him salamandering is important to me due to the amphibian/bisexual joke. you just had to be there i'm realizing how it sounds.

….do you think the stamatins (extended family) have like….traditions around salamanders? Special family lotion to help with sensitive salamander baby skin? Hand me down little salamander feet booties for winter? SPECIAL SALAMANDER BABY CARRIER/CART?? Little baby pool wagon to push the babies in outside….
i think she had an initial shock of course but she adjusted quickly because even if i don't think the Creaturemode is like very common in the family [might happen only like ever 5 generations or something] but since it's. well it's A Thing the stories about it are passed down through the family tree Just In Case a new creature pops out. while i don't think there's a Set Rulebook about how to raise your Creatures + the knowledge from one mother might not make it 4 generations down the family, vague ideas about how to care for them still linger between the members of the family.
i don't know about Traditions but i think there are a few items/rules that make it down to the family at any given crop of The Creatures. the Recipe of the family lotion might not have survived the generations, but the knowledge that You Need a special lotion might have, for example. patterns for special outfits to accommodate the tadpole/salamander lower body might have been lost as well, but the knowledge that It Has Been Done Before persists, so mom can get right to knitting or ask her own mom for help.
typically a salamandins carrier might not work too well (see: the squirm) however mom DOES have a stroller, the ones with the little canopy on it and where the baby inside is facing whoever is pushing, which holds a little box in it with water to keep them #moist. a small cover is pulled over it so the tadpole lower bodies are hidden but you can still see the face. the splish splash of the water might attract attention but it's doable + they find excuses for it
