Path of Exile - Incursion and overloaded Blood Aqueducts
So, everyone who has played Path of Exile since 3.0 know that Act 9 Blood Aqueducts are pretty much the safest and possibly most efficient way to farm for levels before mapping. It drops the Humility divination card that gives Tabula Rasas, which at least are a free divine orb or about 7-20c depending on how long the league has been going on.
During incursion, I’ve found Blood Aqueducts also invaluable for currency farming in form of incursions. My Cycloner is stuck on low tier maps because I am still wearing gear I used while levelling.
Thanks to Incursions, not only is the rate of the divination cards higher, but as you repeat them, you can do the temple runs which have INVALUABLE drops in form of large amounts of currency, past league items, essences, other divination cards, maps, prophecies and breach splinters.
Rooms I target in order of importance are:
Vaults
Warehouse
Jewellers workshop
Armour/Weapon areas
Corruption Chamber
Sacrificial Chamber
Explosives room
During this I don’t really care about buffing omnitect as the item level of gear he drops is fairly low, same with the rooms like pools of restoration.
Vaults is an obvious one and should be gotten to rank III if possible. You can get a lot of plain currency that way.
Warehouse is next, especially the rank III version Museum of Artefacts. You can get literally anything here. From prophecies to splinters to div cards to maps to unique items. If not valuable immediately, these have the highest chance to give you more currency after vaults.
Jewellers workshop I rank above the armour / weapon rooms. You can get very easy four prop jewels (I made 50c today out of one with life and lightning damage thanks to all the arc miners out there.) and corrupted jewellery. Again. iLvl can be low, but jewels make it worth it. Also a minor boon to Jeweller’s workshop is the fact that amulets/rings/belts seem to drop less often than small weapons or amour for the chaos recipe I will be touching later.
Armour/weapon rooms are pretty much only valuable at this point if you happen to drop a corrupted sixlink weapon or body aromour. Try to collect all unidentified 1x3 weapons though, for the chaos recipe.
Corruption Chamber can make you rich if you bring right uniques with you. Stuff like Hrimsorrow, Tabula Rasa or Wanderlust that normally are fairly cheap can SKYROCKET in price if you get them properly corrupted. I’ve seen Hrimsorrows sell for multiple exalts with some corruptions. So if you feel like gambling, these are really nice!
Sacrificial Chamber is only useful at rank III in my opinion. Bring either an iLvl 40 belt or iLvl 66+ bow for chance to get a Headhunter or Windripper respectively. Both are incredibly sought after and expensvie (especially the headhunter belt.)
I go for explosives room if I somehow fail at opening passageways to rooms mentioned above. Otherwise I really don’t bother.
Minor currency making methods while doing this:
The Chaos Recipe: By vendoring a full set of gear (2x 1h weapon or 1x 2h weapon, a body armour, gloves, boots, helmet, two rings, a belt and an amulet) You’ll get a chaos orb, two if gear is unidentified.Incursions make these things explode around you and thanks to Jeweller’s Workshop in temples it is much easier to come across unidentified amulets/rings/belts you can use in the recipe. What I do is after every BA run I just dump all chaos recipe gear I collect (again, the iLvl should be so low that there is no reason to actually ID them.) in my bank and when I stop playing for the day, I just go through every stash and sell as many sets as possible.
People tend to not do chaos recipe that often because it is slow to start picking up random rares. But in my opinion thanks to incursions and temples, it is so fast and effortless that there really is no downside. Remember to use 1x3 weapons so that you can fit two recipes in your inventory at once!
Seething / Bubbling Divine Life flasks:
As weird as it sounds, if you see any unidentified Divine Life flasks while doing this, ID them and check if it has either of the instant heal prefixes. Divine Life Flasks are prefered for this when people do maps because they have a very slow heal rate, but give a lot of life. When you turn that heal rate instant, they become the best instant flasks in game (Eternals are the opposite. you can’t get them in Blood Aqueducts, but best prefix for them is the 50% increased recovery rate so they heal their full amount even quicker than they normally do.) If you also manage to hit a suffix like of heat or staunching it’s even better. These flasks go for anywhere between 3-5c a piece and they’re very common, especially after you finish an Incursion. I made around 40c extra after I started doing this. Don’t bother with mana, or hybrid flasks. They’re not really worth it.
So overall Blood Aqueducts is even better than in two previous leagues. I started today with literally 0 chaos and am now at almost 60 after about six hours of farming. You probably don’t need to farm even that long to replace your levelling gear, but I really like monotonous tasks in these games (I have farmed Oni-Goroshi every league since it was released, and will do that again this league when we’re little bit later in it.) It is very easy to get 10-20 chaos to replace your gear and actually start to not die in the maps because you either don’t have your resists capped or your weapon is still from act 2.
Do every Breach, every strongbox and every Vaal side area. Breaches and strongboxes give more mobs, which means more chances for currency and div cards to drop. Roll diviner and arcanist strongboxes using orbs of alteration until you have at least one, preferably two, “more items” modifiers on them and then Vaal orb them for more div cards and currency from the boxes themselves. Vaal side areas are insanely buffed in Incursion, so if they’re definitely worth your time just for the sacrifice pieces and possible chance for sixlinks when it comes to corrupted gear that can drop there.
Random notes:
Alva seems to ALWAYS spawn to the southern side (same side as the entrance to Highgate) of the canal. Even if there are other masters on the map.
If I see Alva from the gate to Highgate, I just do the incursion, go back to Highgate and reset the instance. If I can’t she always spawns past the halfway point, which means that it is more efficient to run to waypoint after the incursion, reset the map there and run back to Highgate from the waypoint.
This is also a good oppurtunity to level your lower level masters to 5 or 6.Â
