Instructions and Caveats:
This tier list details which champions are most popular in today’s current metagame, for better or for worse. Selecting a high popularity champion and doing mediocre is always favorable to selecting a low tier champion and doing mediocre for team morale.
Champion Explanations
Alistar [Support God] – As a hotly contested pick with a massive “w0w” factor on the professional scene with his ability to constantly make massive plays, Alistar has recemented himself in the top echelon of supports.
Annie [Support God] – Similar to Alistar, Annie has the ability to make huge plays on a short cooldown in the form of heavy near-instantaneous AOE CC. However, where Alistar provides more defensive options in the way of a heal, Annie makes up with using sheer damage.
Caitlyn [ADC God] – Ever since her buffs the previous patch, Caitlyn’s back on track as a top AD carry. Her abusive early range is highly appealing to many and her ability to scale into the late game is definitely higher with the changes.
Ezreal (AP) [Tier 1 Mid] – Probably not a surprise to most, the changes to Ezreal’s ability to deal magic damage with his Q (courtesy of Runeglaive) shot him up in the rankings as an extremely fast paced, ranged burst mage.
Fiddlesticks [Tier 3 Jungle] – As a relatively unpopular champion as of late, Fiddlesticks seems to be further dropping in the rankings after the switch from Magus to Runeglaive, which hurts him and helps many other AP junglers.
Gragas [God Tier Jungle] – With nerfs on Sejuani, Gragas seems to be the permanent staple on the top tier jungle gods on the scene at the moment. With his utility and plenty of free stats, he’s definitely a crowd favorite.
Leblanc [Tier 1 Mid] – Although heavily nerfed, Leblanc remains a terror mid lane. She has a much smaller margin of error but definitely still has the capability to burst down champions much faster than they’d like.
Lucian [Tier 1 ADC] – With nerfs on Ashe and a resurgence of more Vaynes, Lucian’s coming back onto the scene as one of the few with enough burst damage to trade with Vayne head to head. As two short range AD carries, they match up very well when it comes to feeling even while CSing.
Master Yi [Tier 2 Jungle] – With the prevalence of early level 2 counter-junglers annoyingly pervasive, Master Yi is one of those junglers who can clear so fast that he’s already finished with his second buff and gone by the time the enemy jungler can get to the other side of the map.
Ryze [Top Lane God] – Ryze continues his domination at the top of the list of most banned champions at the moment, although he has to share some heavy space with Ekko. Not to worry, plenty of bans to go around.
Sejuani [God Tier Jungle] – Despite nerfs on Sejuani, she’s still largely banned as a champion who’s just annoying to play against. Gragas is a clear winner ahead of her at the moment, but she’s still on the radar.

Instructions and Caveats:
Champions in BOLD I will talk about shortly
Champions UNDERLINED may be over/undervalued, but aren’t/haven’t played enough for me to make a better judgement.
Within each tier the champions are strongest from left to right, but within a tier each champion’s strength isrelatively close. This is especially true for Tiers 2 and 3 where these champions are ALL highly playable and player dependent on how strong they are in-game.
This tier list takes data from ALL players; however, since the majority of players fall in the first three tiers, the majority of data points will come from there.
Win Rates are important in analyzing each champion’s strength, but are not the end-all criteria for any champion’s position.
The creator of this list is diamond, so there may be some personal bias towards higher tier play on certain champions.
Champion Explanations
Alistar [Tier 2 Support] – Despite his godly status in professional ranked play, this simply doesn’t translate well into solo queue. His short cooldowns and powerful all-in requires good team synergy, which is often lacking when it comes to random five player set ups.
Ashe [God Tier ADC] – Although she’s been nerfed several times including last patch, I think that she’s still likely the strongest AD carry in the game, especially with the undisputed top-notch utility provided from her ultimate. However, she’s definitely not “extremely overpowered” anymore and seems much more in line with the rest of the good ADCs.
Azir [Tier 2 Mid] – A champion that scales incredibly well into late game, Azir is one of those champions where if players would just buckle down and farm for 10 minutes, they’d probably do incredibly well. However, the amount of patience and cooldown management necessary to play Azir at a high level holds him back in solo queue. The urge to dive is just too great, and the ability to do so is just too low.
Blitzcrank [God Tier Support] – The latest changes to the yellow gold item are actually quite beneficial to him. As a champion who is focused on making late game plays, the fact that Relic Shield was so much better than the gold item early to mid game made it nearly impossible for Blitzcrank players to choose the speed boost. However, now that they’re much more even, Blitzcrank’s speed burst from his refined W and the item make him impossible to escape from late game.
Cassiopeia [Tier 2 Mid] – After nerfs on Luden’s from last patch, Cassiopeia’s become substantially weaker than before. By weaker, I mean balanced; she can still be quite the menace.
Darius [Tier 1 Top] – The new black cleaver has definitely benefited him a ton, and reflects in his success rate at the moment. This, plus the return of more melee based top laners means that his bullying power continuous to increase.
Diana [God Tier Jungle] – The new runeglaive jungle item seems completely built for her, and as such, she synergizes exceedingly well with it and is absolutely devastating in her current state.
Ekko [Tier 3 Mid] – After repeated nerfs along with the skillcap that he brings along, Ekko requires a bit more effort and mastery to use effectively at the moment.
Fiddlesticks [Tier 2 Jungle] – Where the runeglaive seemed built especially for Diana, at the same time it seems to be especially targeted to screw over Fiddlesticks.
Kayle [Tier 1 Jungle] – Kayle is actually in a very good place right now in the jungle as an on-hit type of champion. Her standard on-hit build combined with Devourer makes for a very potent combination.
Lux [God Tier Mid] – Patch 5.12 brought in exactly the kind of buffs Lux players have always wanted. A meaner, leaner, and more consistent machine of destruction, Lux is absolutely devastating right now with buffs on her both offensively and defensively.
Lux [Tier 2 Support] – Although Lux probably won’t be seeing much support status considering her strength as a mid laner at the moment, support Lux is indeed slightly stronger than before and plays more consistently.
Nunu [Tier 1 Jungle] – As many of you rightly surmised, Nunu does rely heavily on your teammates being competent. Personally, I do think that he can still hold his own, but agree that he probably shouldn’t be god tier.
Ryze [Tier 1 Top] – With his win rate evening out despite the insane ban rate he’s facing, I think it’s fair to say that he likely belongs in the bottom half of Tier 1 or high Tier 2. However, much like we saw from Kassadin after repeated nerfs, he’ll likely stay on the ban radar for a few more patches. The memories of certain highlight reel videos are just too great.
Sejuani [Tier 2 Jungle] – After the cinderhulk nerfs and direct Sejuani changes, I think the era of the boar beast woman is over, and she’s snuggly balanced now.
Teemo [Tier 2 Mid] – Oh the underdog rises again…with nerfs on Luden’s from last patch and the return of more melee based assassin champions mid, as always, Teemo the ultimate early game ranged cheese and late game baiting master makes his comeback on the rift…
