League of Legends Patch 3.6 Goes Live
The 3.6 patch, or Freljord patch, for the hit PC MOBA, League of Legends, launched today with some long awaited changes and new content. The Freljord content is a battle between three different champions; Ashe, Sejuani and Lissandra. An in-game “choose your alliance” event has been made to include those who don’t play Freljord champions in the Freljord story/content.
A new map, The Howling Abyss, is a reboot of The Proving Grounds and is set in the Freljord. Desiring a single-lane map with a sense of place and story, Riot used techniques and technologies developed from Twisted Treeline and completely reworked The Proving Grounds to create The Howling Abyss. There are two shopkeepers on the map that interact with your champion based on what champion you’re using. The Howling Abyss comes with a 5v5 All-Random matchmaking option. A lot of players were complaining that sometimes they got random champions they didn’t like. Riot took those complaints and added a new function called “reroll,” where for 200 reroll points you can reroll for a different random champion. All players were given 200 points to start, and can earn more by playing matchmade games on The Howling Abyss. The amount of points awarded is based on the number of champions a player owns.
There’s a new champion: Lissandra. Lissandra is a black ice witch, and is extremely mobile and mana efficient. She relives more heavily on crowd control and kiting rather than raw burst damage. Lissandra is a good roaming mid, or self-sufficient top laner, if you have a double AP comp. Below is a collage of in-game pictures featuring Lissandra. (It’s important to notice that the patch notes state Lissandra is in this build, but will be released at a later date.)
The patch relaunches champions Trundle and Sejuain, the relaunches include a new story and kit changes. More info on the complete rework for Sejuani, here, and on Trundle, here. The patch also includes a lot of balance rework done for champions which can be read about in the patch notes.
