Nanahimik si Karmina sa sulok ng kwarto. Maigi niyang pinagmamasdan ang kanyang kapaligiran. Nanuot ang kanyang noo at tila di makapaniwala sa mga pangyayari. Malakas at maingay. Maraming tao ang nagsasalita. Ito naman ay kanyang mga kamag-anak na walang tigil ang pagkukuwento.
Silang lahat ay may sari-sariling mga mundo at di mawari ni Karmina ang kanilang mga mukha. Anong klaseng ekspresyon nga ba ang kanilang ipinpakita? Iiyak. Magagalit. Malulungkot. Ngingiti. Magbibiro.
May mga nagtatawanan habang nag-iinuman, naghahalakhakan sa pagsusugal at mga nagdadaldalan sa kanilang pagkain. May mga humahagulgol sa iyak at lungkot, mga hindi makakibo na tila ang mundo'y gumuho, habang may galak na galak sa muling pagkikita ng mga magkamag-anak.
Ang gulo.
Hindi niya sila maintindihan. "Para saan ba ang lahat ng ito? Ano ba talaga ang sinadya nila?? " pagtanong niya sa sarili.
Siya ay nainip. Tuluyan nang di kinaya ang pakikisalamuha sa mga kasama. Inilayo nang husto ang sarili. Lumabas ng kwartong pinaroroonan bago niyang tiningnan ang bahay mula sa malayo.
Tunay na di masabi kung ito ay isang lamay kung saan ang patay ay nirerespeto o isang party na napagtripan ng mga taga-barangay. Hindi niya alam. Siya ay nadismaya.
Mula sa malayo siya ay nagmasid. Nalulungkot sa katotohanang hindi niya pa tanggap... sa kasalukuyan... hindi pa katanggap-tanggap.
