I was on colorectal service, so I got to scrub in on lots of bowel resections. But also got to sneak into a few vascular cases too! The hours are incredibly long and my body is sore everyday! But thanks to Netter I’m getting through the pimping part! 💉Pro Tip💉 When preparing to scrub in on a surgery it is always good to know the blood and nerve supply to that area! Knowing the layer that are being cut through is also very helpful! Familiarize yourself with the anatomy of the area that will be operated on, as the majority of the pimping questions come from that. Second semester of last school has been a total complete shit show. We have 8 hard classes this semester and this has been the worst time of my life. We have exams basically everyday, with 8-5 lectures and then studying all night. But it's constant. There's no break . You just go from sitting in lecture all day to studying and then studying more and then maybe sleeping a little and waking up early and studying more and then class again . And weekends don't even feel like weekends it's just extra time to study. The worst part of it all is when you don't get the grades you want or deserve. On top of feeling overwhelmed, defeated, tired, drained, stressed and discouraged you have to feel stupid and dumb because you can't pass their stupid exams and quizzes. We have 5 questions weekly quizzes in Patho on over 500 slides usually ..... How is that even feasible?! Why would that even be an option? I don't think I've ever cried this much in my life and I've been through shit in life . I've seen it all and I've pushed through but this is just a new level. It's just chronically feeling like you aren't good enough and chronically feeling stressed . You don't get to see your friends or family, or sleep , or go out ever. There's nothing to look forward to except more studying in life. Basically I hate my life to the max. Vent sesh over.
