We've got a full Bubble Gum Witches party. BG Rogue will go unnoticed underfoot, The Armored BG Fighter takes the hits and bounces back, Vampire BG Healer has bubble gum medicine and a Bubble Gum Beagle to boot.
Okay so, ffvii thought, pursuant to a fic I wrote for the exchange last month--clearly the whole party’s together in the buggy after they leave the Gold Saucer, because they all hit Cosmo Canyon together, when it breaks down.
That means the buggy is really fucking large, because it’s accommodating five people, one of them a giant lion-wolf being and one of them Barret Wallace, plus a big robot moog thing and small robot cat, plus optionally Yuffie.
But okay, so the buggy is an all-terrain bus thing, what I’m wondering is: who drives?
Tifa can definitely canonically drive, because she’s behind the wheel during the chase minigame; Cloud can handle a motorcycle and he’s team leader so I assume he’s trusted in the driver’s seat. If Barret can’t already drive I’m sure he learned stat.
Aerith would not take no for an answer on being allowed to drive, but I can’t 100% put it past her to decline to learn to drive (or to admit that she knows) so that other people have to do all the work.
Nanaki I’m 99% sure is not allowed to drive because he does not have thumbs.
(But he participated in the ‘dress up as Shinra troopers’ plan and it worked so that’s the 1% of not certain.)
Personally I doubt that the party would let Yuffie drive, on the basis of her impulsivity and tendency to steal your everything, and also if she gets motion sick in cars even half as bad as she does on the Highwind she wouldn’t be up to it. But these people are all dumb and the world is dumb so maybe Yuffie drives.
But my burning query is: does Cait Sith get to drive? I’m sure Reeve knows how. The moog thing would have to press the pedals, Cait’s not big enough. Would it fit? Is it remotely the right shape for this job? Is driving a car via a robot that you’re also driving remotely a remotely good idea?
I know the answer to that last question it is no, but that doesn’t actually shed any light on any of the others.
