staff ignored the pornbots for so long that it's become a legit problem for more than just the website's users who have been begging them to fix this for years
Ya know, I wonder how much of it just has to do with tumblrâs really... odd way of handling nsfw content in general. For years it allowed both minors (they didnât even ask for a birthday when I signed up!) AND nsfw content with no filters at all.
If youâve ever stumbled into the hm... for lack of a better word ânormieâ part of tumblr you also see a culture where people just... post everything to one blog, including nsfw content. And then some people use their âmainâ url as their nsfw blog even if they have a sfw side.
Even if staff deleted every pornbot youâd STILL have people with blogs that include/focus on nsfw content following people and liking posts. If thatâs the issue, thatâs still going to exist. Even if a rule that main urls must be strictly sfw content it still doesnât make nsfw stuff less accessible. How many times have you seen a sfw post (maybe some cool art or a funny haha) and visited op (or another blog commenting) and found nsfw posts on that blog?
Because so many people have main blogs that include/focus on nsfw content and so many people who fit into a grey area (is my blog nsfw because I like dick jokes?) it would be very hard to create a solution that wonât upset a huge portion of the userbase. Honestly, I donât think there IS a way to do it that wouldnât radically change the site. If Apple is seriously cracking down on nsfw content that really puts this site in an uncomfortable position.
