Iām continuing to create diagrams to re-visit the spaces which I was studying āon the groundā (or the 5th floor) at Tate Exchange before lockdown. Of course now this study takes a different element, now that we have been accustomed to be physically distanced from each other.
The research question is:Ā How does the space of Tate Exchange impact the participatory practices that are carried out within it by Associate groups, and how can arts practice as research be used to document this?
Here are some various attempts at mapping to categorise āsocialā encounters in the space. To create comparisons of the designed spatial layouts used by Associate programmes in Tate Exchange across the different programmes that I visited from Nov 2019 - March 2020. Identifying structures, placed objects and furniture and deciphering how they affect the visitors movement, specific social encounters, exchanges and relations, between artists, students and members of the public.Ā
