The magic of Christmas is present almost everywhere right now, like in this Madras / Chennai toy store. I'm not going to give you a full account of the origin of the Christmas party, wikipedia is there for that, but just remind you that this pagan festival was also a sun worship, and a celebration of the Mithra God. Mithra is a very ancient Indo-Iranian deity (around -2000 BC) who then evolved into Persian Mazdeism, then Zoroastrianism, which is called Parsism in India. Christmas is therefore the festival of the Parsis, Christmas is an Indian holiday ;-)

What Is Zoroastrianism?
2500 years ago, Zoroastrianism was the world's most powerful religion and since then it has had a major influence on Christianity, Islam and Judaism. With followers from Freddie Mercury to Nietzsche, many argue that it shaped the world as we know it. Today, it is one of the smallest religions, with around 150,000 followers. How did it lose its power and what does it mean to be a Zoroastrian today?
