Parametric Modelling
Here is an example of parametric modelling that I used to do when I was a CAD Designer drawing superyacht interiors.
Everything in the model is created from base sketches. If any dimensions change in the base sketch, the entire model is updated - every piece changes to suit the new size. It does take some time to create a very good base sketch, but it is worth it in the end. Instead of re-creating this whole berth (bed) if the width changes, it all updates automatically. Yes in some instances you could use the Stretch tool, but it messes with the original part. Each part needs to be intact to retain the material, weight, hole and cutout positions. The trickle down affect of this is huge - many people in the process of making the boat use this information.
This was modelled using Autodesk Inventor.
