A pair of first cousins were baptized at St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church in Worcester, Massachusetts using extra virgin olive oil farmed by their great-grandfather in Greece, a ceremony he had to miss to tend to his fields.
Alexandros Georgiadis, the 10-month-old son of Christos and Kim Georgiadis, and 7-month-old Theodora Leristis, daughter of Maria and Dimitris Leristis, received the precious and unique gift at the well-attended event, the Worcester Telegram reported.
The oil was sent by 85-year-old Dimitrios Tzanavaras of Corinth, Greece, who has been making it since he was nine years old with a dream of selling it in the United States, with his grandsons, Christos Demitris and Konstantinos Georgiadis now selling it under the brand name of Papou – grandfather in Greek.
A Day in the Life of Elena in Greece
Elena, 30, has decided to go back to her grandfather’s farm and start a business mixing tourism and olive oil production. Today they have a lot of oil to deliver in the nearby village. They wouldn’t have to hurry if Elena wouldn’t chat with every single client. Come on, it’s time to go!

Nothing compares to the love of Pappou and Yiayia, and beautiful images of this proud grandfather and grandmother confirm the famous saying, “Your grandchildren are your children twice over.”
The overjoyed Pappou and Yiayia carried their chairs along with them to the heart of Syntagma and sat directly across from their grandson, who is currently serving as an Evzones, and watched him for an entire hour in awe as he performed his duties as a Presidential Guard.
Afterward, they stood next to the Evzones and took a photo with their grandson, which speaks a thousand words.
