“rewrite fanfic to sell” is a classic fandom “fear”, at least in the good ol’ days of fandom paranoia. bbac is, and always will be online for free (unless i get a 7 figure deal and it’s in part of the contract, in which case we all scatter like cockroaches in the light and i scream DOWNLOAD IT QUICK repeatedly and then encourage everyone to pass around Illegal Gay Witches after the fact)
