Thank you to everyone for all the support on this build and all the shares on my last post! Alot of people thought it was a cg/statue/gamerender etc and that has to be the best compliment ever. So as promised here is some close up video footage of the costume!
The costume sports 3000-4000 fabric covered foam scales, each hand cut and applied, 600 hand cut and painted tentacle suckers,over 60 hand dremeled and weathered foam scales, and over 50 yards of flounced fabric ruffles sewn onto it!
The lights in the costume were designed specifically to recreate the look of bioluminescent life found in the ocean/rivers/lagoons in my country. This phenomenon is present in the Bon Accord Lagoon, Ortoire River, Nariva Swamp, and Mayaro Beach, among others. The creatures require a delicate balance in order to form and very few of these locations exist in the world. The largest threat to these species is human interference, through the destruction of their habitat. So I wanted to not only pay homage to that but also to highlight it using a character that I believe would be a major proponent for the preservation of that life and balance, Neptulon.
