what do you think would have happened in s2e8 if jesper hadn’t interrupted their moment and ran and hugged inej? this is in the scene where kaz and inej reunite in the last episode.
I have thoughts about it! Because while I would have loved (and I mean that with my whole heart) for one of them to say or do anything... realistically, Jesper going in for a hug was probably not going to change the outcome. Neither Kaz or Inej would have said anything.
It's like in 1.02, when Kaz calls out to Inej (twice in this episode), and Inej has left or wasn't there to begin with. Specifically, the 2nd time, when it looked like he might have apologized (or said something!)... we as an audience would have loved to know what would have been said, but we'll simply never know.
A lot of Kanej moments are just things that weren't said. They work so well together, but their communication, whether it's the books or show, is not great. Even if you make the case that Kaz asked her to stay later on or Inej said without armor, at this particular moment, they weren't there yet.
I just don't think they would have done anything but intensely stare at each other. Maybe the best we could have hoped for was a hello or a nod.
Also, Kaz might have guessed at her plans to leave at that moment (like he did in 1.07), and he might have tried again to get her to stay which he successfully did multiple times at this point (see 1.02, 1.07, 1.08, 2.01). But at this specific moment, they're not just around Jesper or the crows they're in public. So, getting them to admit their feelings in private is one thing, but in public? They simply weren't ready for that... and then the chapel scene happened...
TL;DR, I think they're collectively dumb about feelings, so Jesper hugging wouldn't have changed anything.
