Prompt 4: Lavender
Ship: Pandora x Narcissa
Pandora picks the lavender carefully. She only picks the most vibrant, thick sprigs of purple perfume pitted prettiness. She counts ten sprigs in total, wraps a pearly white thin ribbon around the stems until they’re bound together in a pretty arrangement. Only the best for her love.
She holds the little bouquet in her hand, grasped tightly, and sits still, staring forward, eyes fixed on the woman she loves. She almost cries, but does not let herself, for no one can know the secrets shared between them.
As she walks down the aisle, Pandora holds out the lavender bush to the woman she once knew intimately. Gives her a look she hopes conveys the truth within her soul, her only wish; please don’t forget me.
Narcissa did not look at her, could not bear to, her eyes red rimmed as her jaw clenched tight, no one can know. Not a single soul but ours.
Pandora watches her walk away, stares as her heart cracks into splintered pieces. But hope, hope held in tender, loving, soft, slender hands, holding tight to the ten little flowers wrapped in love and memories, hidden against the purple of her wedding bouquet. She took it, she took the flowers.
How is Pandora to go on without her lover? How is Pandora to look at another sprig of lavender without her heart cracking? How is she to look at the pretty flower and not be reminded of afternoons spent in empty fields picking purple flowers and sharing tender kisses? How is she to see the colour without thinking of the lavender ribbon always tied in her lovely soft hair?
How is Pandora to go on at all?
But for just a moment, her heart is refilled, as the bride and groom are whisked away, Narcissa dares a glance back, her eyes shine, and Pandora knows.
Their story is not over. Not quite yet. And for as long as her Narcissa will let her, Pandora will take ten sprigs of the most luscious lavender she can find, and each bouquet will be forever loved. Even though they may not have one another, they will never let the other go.
