The virgin PALLADON, called Minerva by the Greeks [sic], in the 43rd year of the reign of Ninus (of whom I made mention above), was abandoned as an infant at Lake Triton. She was adopted as a daughter by that same Dionysius, also called Libyan Jupiter. She taught the Libyans all military arts. She also (according to those who call her Pallas) invented the previously unknown art of working with wool, and taught it to them, and the institution of weaving; so woolworkers, fullers, dyers and weavers worship this maiden as a Goddess. She is also said to have invented and taught the use of oil, and numbers themselves, and chariots, and arms. Berossus book 5; Supplementary Chronicle.
