Originally, PAKs and this “PAKet dimension” as you called it, were invented to combat the lack of mental development that occurred in newly bred SMEETS after the introduction of the CONTROL BRAINS. This degradation was caused from the cloning that took over the natural reproduction of DRONES usually performed by the QUEEN along with all reproduction in general. Which is what was usually required to maintain a singular HIVE of WORKER DRONES and TALLERS. This change was implemented to preserve the IRKEN race and prevent the majority of any one HIVE dying out completely with the QUEEN when her time came, as would often happen. However, the brains of the grown SMEETS would never properly develop within the tubes and would essentially just be piles of mush. Through utilizing bits of DNA from the same SMEET as a means of storing data like a genetic computer disk and then “uploading” it into the PAK’s dimensional rift to the memory drives contained within, it could be used as a secondary brain and act as a life support system that stimulates the underdeveloped brain into a functioning one.  A brain actually capable of maintaining bodily functions as needed as well as have the memories from said drives injected into it. But as you’re already aware, this method only works as long as the two remain connected via the physical PAK remaining attached to the body shell of the organic brain. When disconnected, there is only a 10 minute window before the organic brain deteriorates back into mush and leaving the physical body at risk of dying...
