Pardon the odd question, but how do spells work? I'm wanting to know what I have access to before the voyage begins so I know what I can use and how often I can use it.
Iâm guessing youâre speaking for your Hiro muse, which would make you a healer, yes?
Well⌠prepare for a rather long (and hopefully not confusing) post.
While there are magical spells that can be purchased (from the magic shop) or learned (from the Arcadian college), you honestly have the freedom to decide your characterâs own abilities for the class you choose for them. What sorts of things they can do, what their limitations are⌠thereâs no set system for this, as we want to give muns a certain amount of freedom and creative license in that regard.
You as a mun could choose to either be greatly detailed in the abilities and limitations you give a characterâŚ
Example: If you decide to set up stats for your character, and they have say, 30 MP at their current level, then you can create spells/abilities for them that take up certain amounts of MP (like 5) and use them in a thread/roleplay up until your character runs out of MP, which would then exhaust them mentally.
âŚor not at all, and just do things in a general sense.
Example: So letâs say you have your decided class (Healer) and level (2, which is fairly weak), but no stats for that character. You can literally do whatever you want here, but you still have to do so in a capacity thatâs reasonable. Like, you can have Hiro heal people all throughout the roleplay, but if it gets to a point where you think it might be getting to be too much for him, then you can simply state that heâs getting tired.
When it comes to battling in roleplays, fights can either be entirely written out (see the Evelyn/Russell voyage chat we recently reblogged as a reference for that), or done via chatzy choose lines such as these:
LEVELS 1 AND 2: /choose HIT, MISS, HIT, MISS, HIT, MISS, MISS, HIT, MISS
LEVELS 3 AND 4: /choose HIT, MISS, HIT, HIT, MISS, MISS, HIT, MISS
LEVELS 5 AND 6: /choose HIT, MISS, HIT, HIT, HIT, MISS, HIT, MISS
LEVELS 7 AND ABOVE: /choose HIT, MISS, HIT, HIT, HIT, MISS, HIT, HIT
Each line corresponds to your characterâs level, so if you encounter a situation in which you have to fight, then you can enter these lines into the chatzy, get your result, and roleplay based off of that. Of course, this wouldnât have to apply to a Healer (how could they miss their targets/patients, after all? xD)
But hereâs an example, anyway, for a Fire Mage character:
âThe monster lunged at her, and she sidestepped to the side, barely managing to dodge the swipe of its paw. With gritted teeth, she shoots her hand out and blasts some fire in its directionâŚâ
[ Enter one of the lines, gets MISS as a result. ]
ââŚbut the monster ducks and evades the flames.â
And the same would apply to more physically oriented classes as well (replace âfire blastâ with âsword swingâ for example)!
I do hope this gave you some clarity on the subject, and if you have any other questions, please donât hesitate to ask! Also, feel free to come to us if you need to better understand the capabilities of a specific class, and we will be more than happy to help you out with that.
